Reunion at the Istana: PM Lee hosts CNY lunch with former MPs

Chinese New Year is a joyous time for reunions.

For Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, it is also the time to celebrate and reminisce with former comrades who have retired from politics and public service.

After all, the legacy of their service and contributions to Singapore remains to this day.

Posting on Facebook, PM Lee shared photos of his annual reunion lunch with MPs, past and present, at the Istana on Wednesday (25 Jan).

Glad to see everyone doing well and keeping active, and many continue to contribute to the community in their own ways, said PM Lee.

Some of the former MPs who attended the event include ESM Goh Chok Tong, Mdm Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, Mr Abdullah Bin Tarmugi, Mr Tan Soo Khoon, Mr Ong Teng Koon, Mr Wong Kan Seng, Mr Chin Harn Tong, Ms Penny Low, Mr Ravindran Ramasamy, Mr Khaw Boon Wan, Mr Inderjit Singh, Mr Lau Ping Sum, Ms Lim Hwee Hua and Dr Yaacob Ibrahim.

Indeed, it is heart-warming to see that our former MPs are healthy and well.

But more importantly, to know that their sense of camaraderie forged during their days in the Party and public service has not diminished over the years.

As PM Lee noted in his post, “I am thankful for their friendship and support.”

For the rest of us, let us also take this opportunity to remember our former comrades and say a big “thank you” for all that they have done for us.
