Working hard to assemble the best possible team for Singapore: PM Wong

23/04/2025

THE PAP will go all out to secure a brighter future for Singaporeans despite this changing world, said Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Nomination Day (23 Apr) of the 2025 General Election.

“I’ve worked hard to assemble the best possible team for Singapore. A fresh team combining experience and new perspectives together,” said PM Wong. “My team and I share a new collective resolve to keep Singapore growing and to improve our lives.”

“And so our message to Singaporeans in this election is: A changed world, a fresh team with new resolve,” added PM Wong. “My appeal to Singaporeans is this: Help me and my PAP team do our best for you. We will go all out to secure a brighter future for you.”

PM Wong also mentioned that the GE2025 will help him assemble people who can form the core of the next generation of leadership.

“The stakes are high in this election. We are in a changed world with turbulence all around us,” said PM Wong.

“If you speak to our union leaders, which I’ve done recently, they are also very concerned about the impact of jobs and incomes,” he added. “In fact, just today, after Nomination, I had to catch up with investment advisors in the GIC [Government of Singapore Investment Corporation]. These are top notch investment advisors …There is a consensus that things will not go back to the way they used to be [in the world].”

This changed world alters the very conditions that underpin Singapore’s success as a trading nation. Here, Singaporeans need a strong, effective and stable government which can act decisively for the nation — and to take everyone forward through this global storm.

“Consider the stakes. Consider what this election means. Not just in terms of tactical voting,” said PM Wong.  “Consider what this election means fundamentally, for your families, for your children, for the future of our country.”
