The PAP team for West Coast-Jurong GRC have unveiled their manifesto, detailing their five-year plan for the town.
Desmond Lee, leading the PAP team contesting in West Coast-Jurong West GRC, called on Opposition parties to release similar plans that benefit residents.
“If parties say they’ve walked the ground, they should also show how they intend to uplift local estates. Voters deserve clear, detailed plans they can review and decide on,” Mr Lee said in a Facebook post after his team launched a five-year plan on Wednesday (Apr 23).
In a statement to the media after the launch of the manifesto, Mr Lee, who is also Minister for National Development, said that his team has put up proposals and local plans to benefit residents, and they “ask PSP to publish these local plans for residents to study”.
Presenting the PAP’s plans after Nomination Day proceedings, Mr Lee told media that his team wants to make it easier for residents in rental flats in Taman Jurong, Boon Lay and Nanyang to access social services like ComLink+.
He said that the PAP plans to do more to ensure national schemes benefit residents in the area.
“For example, ageing is an issue that runs through the whole nation, but in certain parts of our estate, we have seniors, including low-income seniors,” said Mr Lee, who is also the Minister-in-charge of Social Services Integration, adding that the team sees the need to bring Age Well SG to the ground “in a very integrated way”.
Mr Lee said that if elected, he plans to expand initiatives like the Gift-A-Family initiative beyond Boon Lay to other areas within the constituency, such as Taman Jurong and Nanyang. This initiative pairs individuals with vulnerable families. He added that the programme also has the potential to be expanded nationally.
Scaling up local programmes to help residents cope with cost of living

The manifesto outlined nine key areas which the PAP team will focus on for the next five years if elected.
On the theme of helping households cope with the cost of living, the PAP team said that it would continue to roll out and scale up local programmes to supplement nationwide measures by the Government.
The team also wants to ensure good employment for job seekers by organising more career and skills fairs in the community.
They will also champion families by partnering with community organisations and government agencies to run support schemes for families.
On the infrastructure front, neighbourhoods will undergo revitalisation, with new sports and fitness facilities being constructed.
These include the redevelopment of Clementi Stadium by 2030 and the former West Coast Recreation Centre, which will feature softball and baseball fields.
Other themes in the manifesto include helping seniors lead full and healthy lives, as well as empowering persons with disabilities and mental health challenges, as well as their caregivers.
Mr Lee said, “These plans aren’t made in a vacuum — they’re built from years of real conversations, data, and stories gathered by walking the ground and listening.”
Besides Mr Lee, the PAP slate includes Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Finance and Education Shawn Huang, three-term MP Ang Wei Neng, orthopaedic surgeon Hamid Razak and lawyer Cassandra Lee.
