Residents of Braddell Heights constituency can look forward to Singapore’s largest polyclinic, Serangoon Polyclinic, opening in the fourth quarter of this year. Additionally, the upgraded wet market will reopen in the third or fourth quarter.
According to Seah Kian Peng, Member of Parliament for Marine Parade GRC since 2006, these new facilities complement the existing comprehensive amenities within the estate, serving and improving the lives of residents.
Mr Seah told Petir that the new Serangoon Polyclinic will provide convenient access to top-notch healthcare services for residents in the area. The Serangoon Polyclinic will cater to the diverse health needs of the local community, offering a comprehensive range of consultations for acute and chronic conditions, dental services, and tele-health options for selected cases.
The upcoming Serangoon Polyclinic will dedicate an entire floor to an active ageing centre. Mr Seah described active ageing centres as akin to country clubs for seniors – free for them to access with many activities being organised for seniors to participate in.
“In an ageing society like ours, the need and role for active ageing centres is critical, which is why the government is setting up even more…We want seniors to be active, engaged, and maintain their social, physical, and mental well-being.”
Additionally, there will be a kidney dialysis centre within the same building. The polyclinic will collaborate with community partners to enhance the health and care of residents and patients alike.
Mr Seah explained: “Currently, we have a dialysis centre, but it is rather small with limited capacity, and there is no space to expand further… With the new dialysis centre at the polyclinic, those who are unable to secure a place here and had to go elsewhere can going forward go to this new and bigger dialysis centre. This will bring a lot of convenience to residents who require dialysis and so, I am very happy that MOH approved it.”
The market building’s second level will house a new study centre

Separately, the refurbished wet market at Block 267 Serangoon Ave 3 will reopen in late 2025, featuring new food establishments alongside the market stalls. All former wet market stallholders will return, as they are familiar with the residents. According to Mr Seah, “They have been given priority allocation, and the rents will remain the same as before.”
Additionally, a new study centre will open on the second level in mid-2025, providing a space for youth to study, connect with peers, and foster a sense of belonging within the community, he added.
The upgraded Braddell Heights Community Club will after a delay, be ready in a few months time, said Mr Seah. Concurrently, Silver Zones within the constituency are being implemented so as to enhance the safety for pedestrians and mototrists alike.
Mr Seah pointed out that Braddell Heights constituency is a mature estate, with many residents having lived there for many years, some as long as 50 years. He added that many find it a choice location because of the various improvements over the years. These include the construction of the Northeast Line, Circle Line, and the Nex shopping mall as well as other amenities.
“Some residents have said they wanted to downgrade because their homes are too large as their children have all grown up and have their own flats. However, because of the prime location, they don’t want to move,” he said. “Collectively, working with grassroots leaders and government agencies, we have been able to make Braddell Heights a better home for everyone, whether you’ve been staying here for the last 50 years, or have just moved in. As a team, we will also continue to do our best to serve residents and assist them as and when need. Our We Care programme is for all and has no end date!”
