When SM Lee joined the PAP Aljunied team on Tuesday (Apr 29), he observed that the WP-run town had lapses in maintenance.
“I hear there’s a swing park near here where the swings have no swings, for 2 years,” said SM Lee.

Strangely enough, swings have now suddenly reappeared at the swing park.
It’s time to give Aljunied residents a voice in how their town is run after 14 years of WP management.
An unconventional, humour laden campaign
You’ve seen their invitation to the PAP Aljunied rally on 1st May. A supercut of WP rallies, and then the five members of Team Aljunied, looking thoughtful while a blue hammer falls off the table.
Cue stirring music and an invitation to the rally with the words “It’s time for us to speak.”
It’s a hallmark of the unconventional, humour laden campaign that the five member PAP team contesting Aljunied, have undertaken, to win the trust and confidence of Aljunied residents.
The 5-member team, consisting of Adrian Ang, Chan Hui Yuh, Daniel Liu, Dr Faisal Abdul Aziz and Jagathishwaran Rajo, are making their political debut this election. They will run against the A-team from the Workers’ Party, helmed by the Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh.
It’s not easy being the underdog. In fact, PAP’s Aljunied team has been dubbed the ultimate ‘suicide squad’.
And yet, in this classic tale of David vs Goliath, our PAP underdogs are taking everything in their stride with a dose of humour and strength.
Kicking off their campaign on nomination day, Ms Chan said to supporters, “Change starts now!”
Coincidentally, “It’s Time” also happens to be the catchy slogan for our Aljunied team.

Over the nine days of hustings, our Aljunied candidates have shown they are unafraid to poke fun at themselves.
Daniel Liu’s quip about resembling Ed Sheeran set the internet abuzz, but when asked to sing some of his songs, Mr Liu quickly added that his singing might actually turn residents against him.
Meanwhile, Dr Faisal Abdul Aziz has devised a creative way to introduce himself to residents. But why stop at a flyer?
“Being a dentist, a toothbrush was a natural choice.”
Today, on the final day of this GE campaign, our Aljunied team will hold their rally.
“You heard them talk. It’s time for us to speak!”
It’s the ultimate hammer drop.
So, let us head down to Serangoon Stadium and show our support for the underdogs.
After all, It’s Time.
