OUR WOMEN’S Wing (WW) branch chairpersons and activists were out and about this Mother’s Day (10 May)! They gave out over 5,000 soap flowers across Singapore, honouring how mums stalwartly keep families running every single day.
From West Coast-Jurong West across to East Coast, from Holland-Bukit Timah and up to Sengkang, here are snapshots from these Mother’s Day celebrations:

Women’s Wing Chairperson Sim Ann gave these Mother’s Day “flowers” out during her walkabout in Bukit Timah.
“It was lovely to meet so many residents and their families when PAP Bukit Timah was out thanking them with ice-cream yesterday. We also gave out Mothers’ Day souvenirs, including pretty soap flowers that MOS Rahayu Mahzam kindly arranged for PAP women branch chairs to distribute,” said Chairperson Sim.
“On behalf of the PAP Women’s Wing I am delighted to welcome 13 new women branch chairs onboard, including Charlene Chen 陈以君 and Hazlina Abdul Halim,” added Chairperson Sim. “I look forward to the new energy and fresh perspectives they will bring to our efforts to advance women’s development in Singapore!”
The PAP Women’s Wing works to advance women’s development in all areas, and for all ages. These efforts include closing the digital safety gap for women and girls, and championing women’s personal well-being.

Over in Siglap, new MP Hazlina Abdul Halim (East Coast GRC) spent a bright and cheery morning chatting with residents at their homes and in hawker centres.
“Happiest Mother’s Day to all mothers, mothers at heart, mothers-to-be, and mother-figures. You are your children’s first role model and play an important role in shaping lives,” she said (11 May).
“If you haven’t already, give the mothers/mother-figures around you a hug and thank them for all that they do,” she added.
MP Hazlina is someone who has previously brightened up children’s lives as CEO of Make-A-Wish Singapore. She fights for more social mobility in Singapore; for her every hardworking Singaporean deserves a chance to move up, build a better life, and glow up.
West Coast-Jurong West: Cassandra Lee keeps serving residents

In West Coast-Jurong West GRC, new MP Cassandra Lee was a welcomed presence all over her Ayer Rajah ward this Mother’s Day morning.
“Thank you, mothers, for making our families strong, our communities resilient, our society colourful,” said MP Lee (11 May)
“Thank you to fathers and families, too, for allowing our mothers to become the mothers they hope to be,” she added.
That second line particularly reflects what MP Lee works for. She is a known face across Jurong divisions for her volunteer work to support young parents and their caregiving needs, such as raising awareness on the Tripartite Guidelines on Flexible Work Arrangements.
Jurong East-Bukit Batok: Rahayu Mahzam speaks up for women’s contributions
“These gifts of soap flowers are symbolic of our support for mothers and mother-figures,” said MP Rahayu Mahzam (Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC), who spent the morning walking the central thoroughfares of her Bukit Batok East ward alongside her volunteers.
“I hope these will remind them to self-care, and reflect our ongoing advocacy for women’s well-being.”
“It is important that women are recognised and valued for their roles in and by the community,” she added.
MP Rahayu was the Organising Chairperson for the PAP Women’s Wing Mother’s Day celebrations across the island.
Sengkang: Bernadette Giam is tirelessly on the ground
Over at Sengkang East, Branch Chairperson Bernadette Giam is putting community first.
“This weekend, I’ve been back to our Sengkang East community, delivering flowers lovingly crafted by the incredible Women’s Wing activists who stood by me during this campaign,” she said (10 May).
“I’ll not stop showing up—for the moms, the caretakers, the grandmothers, and every person whose love holds our families together,” she added.
BC Giam is someone who acts to uplift women. With her help, the WW’s All Things Nice initiative got off the ground; it is now a regular event which empowers young women in the workforce with interview tips and female mentorship from women-led small and medium enterprises.
