Good guy FairPrice announces yet another discount to fight cost of living: 15% discount on rice

Hot on the heels of a slew of discounts to fight inflation announced a little less than a fortnight ago, NTUC FairPrice announced a 15 per cent discount on three rice products today (Oct 27).

The products are Songhe AAA Thai Hom Mali Rice (5kg), Double FP Thai Hom Mali Premium Quality Fragrant Rice (10kg) and FairPrice Thai Brown Rice (5kg).

The respective discounts will be made available from Oct 27 to Nov 9, 2022 at all FairPrice supermarkets, as well as FairPrice Online.

Each customer may purchase up to four bags during the promotional period, said FairPrice in a media release.

The supermarket also stated that prices for these three products were kept stable over the years as part of FairPrice’s ongoing efforts to moderate the cost of living for daily essentials. The last price adjustment was in 2020.

Group CEO of FairPrice Group Mr Vipul Chawla said: “Our latest price drop applies to rice products that are not only popular, but also products where prices have been kept stable for the past two years to ensure we give exceptional savings to the community. This latest initiative complements our earlier efforts this year to drop prices for staples and essentials and we hope this brings some respite to families, empowering them to stretch their dollar further.”

A continual effort to help Singaporeans

FairPrice also said that it took the lead earlier this year to provide a 10 per cent discount on four popular cooking oil products to address concerns on elevated oil prices, as well as providing a special discount for its Pasar fresh eggs (30s) in view of rising egg prices.

Two weeks ago, it launched a campaign to address concerns over the rising cost of living that includes freezing the price of of more than 500 popular essential items, offering discounts of up to 50 per cent off on selected items and helping the vulnerable.

Take a bow, FairPrice.
