Our Party MPs are constant sights around Singapore’s neighbourhoods, whether at (among many others) regular Meet-the-People sessions, taking part in multiracial cultural celebrations or welcoming new residents to the block.
You might have seen them in action around your neighbourhood this festive season still. Here’s what some — Mayor Desmond Choo, SMS for Defence Heng Chee How, MP Wan Rizal, MP Edward Chia, Mayor Low Yen Ling, MP Yip Hong Wen and MP Vikram Nair — did:
Tampines

Mayor of North East District Desmond Choo (Tampines GRC) started the festive season early, working with Changkat residents as Joy Box Secret Santas on December 17.
These community care gift packages (which are called Joy Boxes) were put together by over 300 gifters for less-privileged families as well as beneficiaries from hospices and children’s homes, Mayor Choo shared.
“1,500 Joy Boxes were contributed by individuals and corporates from all around the island. Great to see the community coming together. As the tagline of Joy Box says, ‘For it is in giving that we receive’…”
Jalan Besar

“Happy to continue visiting our folks in Whampoa (this time in McNair precinct) and keep our ties warm as we bring the year to a close soon,” posted Senior Minister of State for Defence Heng Chee How on December 22 about visiting his Jalan Besar GRC constituency.
“Glad that our unity and community spirit have helped us overcome many challenges and gave us strength for the future,” added SMS Heng.
Kampong Glam
There was also festive cheer elsewhere in Jalan Besar, with MP Wan Rizal (try spotting him in the photo below!) distributing groceries to needy residents in his GRC.

“Tis’ the season of giving and I am deeply honoured to join staff and volunteers from Sultan Mosque to distribute food packets and groceries worth around $100 each to 150 beneficiaries in Kampong Glam,” posted the MP on December 22 as well.
“Seeing them in person and being able to bring joy to their lives brought so much warmth in my heart. Special thanks to our kind sponsors Al Falah Academy Singapore & Graciousmart.sg for their kind donations.”
Holland-Bukit Timah

“Our final home visits for the year was filled with smiles, laughter and a wonderful festive spirit. Thank you, residents from Blk 510, 622 and 633C for opening both your hearts and homes,” posted MP Edward Chia (Holland-Bukit Timah GRC) on December 23.
“I am grateful for the valued feedback which our team has begun working on. It was a great way to end off our final home visits for the year,” he added.
“Looking forward to our first home visit for 2023 on the 5th of Jan!🙌🏻”
Choa Chu Kang
Mayor of South West District Low Yen Ling had a busy festive season, overseeing the MOU for a pioneering SingPost-Lazada tracking system that improves the online shopping experience.
This while she kept walking the ground alongside her Chua Chu Kang GRC volunteers.
“Our Festive Cheers @ Bukit Gombak this season brought many groups together in the spirit of giving this Christmas season at Goodview Gardens today 🌲🎊🎉🎁, ” she posted December 24.

The Mayor joined youth volunteers from Bukit Gombak EAGLES Interact Club, Hillview Youth Network, and Goodview Gardens RC, as well as performers from the Hillview Ukulele Interest Group to sing carols and distribute festive cheer packs to residents of Goodview Gardens.
Mayor Low also spent the season distributing Christmas gifts to children from Bukit Gombak Vista as part of the P&G Festive Grant-A-Wish @ South West initiative.
Yio Chu Kang

“Special house visit during this Christmas season to spread some festive cheers!” MP Yip Hong Wen (Yio Chu Kang SMC) shared on December 26.
MP Yip took the opportunity to share with his residents about an upcoming Neighbourhood Renewal Programme and hand out chocolates to the kids.
He also praised the gotong royong spirit of his residents who helped each other decorate their common areas in time for Christmas.
Sembawang
And work continues. MP Vikram Nair (Sembawang GRC) is just one example.
“Our MPS team was back in action tonight right after the Christmas weekend to serve our residents,” posted MP Vikram the night of December 27.

“Although a number of people were on holiday, the session went smoothly and we cleared our cases in a reasonable time,” he wrote.
MP Vikram’s team also celebrated with some panettone, log cake and brownies after the MPS.
“A sweet end to the evening and the year. A big thank you to all volunteers who have worked hard over the year!”
