WITH EXCITEMENT in the air, our Party members gathered at the PAP Awards and Conference 2024 last weekend (23-24 Nov). We paid tribute to activists like social work pioneer Comrade S Vasoo. Deputy Secretary-General Lawrence Wong rallied us to keep fighting for the hearts and minds of Singaporeans — this strong mandate will help us keep taking Singapore forward.

A mural of previous Secretary-Generals Lee Kuan Yew and Goh Chok Tong, as well as current Sec-Gen Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Secretary-General Lawrence Wong drew much attention from attendees.
These four men encompass the leadership of the PAP through 70 years of progress and economic prosperity in Singapore.
An up-tempo dance and a soulful guitar session kicked off the Conference on Saturday evening.
The Conference was also a chance for activists old and new to catch up, spend time — and take memorable wefies with each other. Minister for National Development Desmond Lee and Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan are pictured here with their activists.
Chairman Heng Swee Keat sounded a clarion call to action. He urged activists to keep serving fellow Singaporeans well, and with empathy. He presented the evening’s highest honours — the Meritorious Service Star — to one such exemplary activist: social work trailblazer Comrade S Vasoo.
Chairman Heng also presented Sec-Gen Lee with a memento for the latter’s decades of service helming our Party — a watercolour hawker scene which you can read more about here.
The Conference will be remembered as Sec-Gen Lee’s final one leading the PAP. And Deputy Secretary-General Lawrence Wong, who is taking our Party forward is ready to take up the baton. He pledged to lead our Party, to “fight to win the hearts and minds of our fellow citizens and earn their support and trust through our actions”.
Our activists across Singapore stand ready to support DSG Wong in his action for our nation’s future.
